HOW TO LIVE THE HEALTHY LIFE- WHAT ARE THE TIPS?

When it comes to healthy living, a lot of people begrudgingly choose to do it, because of the sacrifices made in it. A lot of meals are no longer put into consideration. This ranges from saturated fats to high intake of carbs or proteins. A lot of people fail to realize the essence of a balanced diet. You measure what you put on your plate! A little bit of everything in the right proportion would do the trick.
Healthy living requires healthy meals not snacks.

Put off the high cholesterol intake and live on the vegetables, carbs, proteins- the whole class of food(dietary supplements can also do the trick!). Mix in a bit of work out (you can make it a daily routine), rest, and you have your healthy lifestyle. This notwithstanding isn't enough to inculcate the healthy lifestyle. There are some tidbits undiscovered that you need to know! Below are some of them to follow through on your journey of healthy living.

·         Enough Sleep will do you good!
Many of us are guilty of lack of sleep, especially when it comes to work activities, family, we barely even have time to catch a breath! These things interfere with sleep time and it doesn't do our bodies much good. A healthy life style requires a healthy measure of sleep. Rather than being bubbly and full of energy, we end up exhausted at the end of the day, which translates to looking as unhealthy as a malnourished child or obese! The irony huh? The truth is, when there isn't enough sleep, the brain is affected. Hunger hormones are released which causes an increase in food consumption. At the same time, a lapse in exercise. So sleep, is certainly a factor that shouldn't be ignored.

·         Have a laid out balanced diet plan
This tip can honestly not be over emphasized. Food and nutrition plays a pivotal role in healthy living. In beginning of this journey, you have to eat more and less of some meals.
You eat more of:

Starchy carbohydrates: This includes whole grain meals, potatoes, rice, pasta. It should make about one third of your daily intake of meals. People have the misconception that it's fattening, but gram for gram, the carbohydrate they contain provides fewer than half the calories for fat.

Fruits and vegetables: These contain fiber that has the capacity to replenish worn out tissues, provide strength, healthy skin that leads to one looking healthier and fresher. Dice a portion of banana or pop some strawberries in your meals. Or a glass of unsweetened 100% fruit juice, smoothie, vegetable juice can count as your fiber for the day.

Eat more Fish - especially oily fish
Fish is a source of protein and contains vitamins and minerals- a very essential class of food responsible for body building and tissue repairing. It should be included in a balanced diet plan for the week. Oily fish should specifically be eaten because it contains Omega-3 fats which helps to prevent heart disease.

To achieve a healthy life style, you eat less of:

·         Saturated fat: Regular consumption of unhealthy snacks leads to obesity and tooth decay. In this case, you are required to cut down on fizzy drinks (sodas), alcoholic drinks, sugary cereals, cakes. As these contain added sugars that causes weight gain. Unlike natural sources of sugar such as honey, fruit, milk.

·         Salts: Excessive intake of salt can lead to high blood pressure which can lead to heart disease or stroke. For this reason, salt intake should reduce. Most of the breakfast cereals, soup, bread and sauces already contain salt. So taking more of it poses more harm that good. It's best to check food labels when determining salt intake. It's found on the bodies of food tins.

·         Get active!: Good exercise helps in maintaining good body weight, body shape, mental stimulation, prevent health issues such as: type 2 diabetes, stroke, heart disease. It has so many benefits lots of people miss out on.

·         Dietary supplements: in the bid of trying to stay fit, dietary supplements can be recommended by doctors in the journey. Although it's not a substitute for healthy meals, it plays the role they also play!

·         Drink a lot of water: Water acts fuel to the body. Dehydration causes a lot of damage especially to the brain- fainting spells, dizziness are some things that come to play. This is why we are recommended to drink 6-8 cups of water daily to meet up to our bodies daily need for water. Sources of water are: non alcoholic drinks, non sweetened drinks, low fat milk. But of course, a far healthier choice would be water.
